During “Thursday Night Football,” viewers were treated to a hot mic moment where Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers got into a weirdly baffling, and cuss-filled, exchange with head coach Mike McCarthy. The interaction happened during the first quarter when “Rodgers urged McCarthy to get the call in faster during the Steelers’ lengthy opening drive,” ESPN reported. The Steelers ended up falling to the Cleveland Browns 27-24.
When asked about if McCarthy’s plays are coming in a little later than he’d like during a press conference on Wednesday, Rodgers bluntly said “I’m not gonna touch that one.” He did say that he ironed it out with the coach. Though the exchange looked heated last week, the Steelers coaches and Rodgers maintained this week emotions are normal part of the game. Regarding sideline emotion, Rodgers added, "I think it is a positive," before continuing, "Player-led teams are the best teams.
I think anytime you're seeing the fire and the passion from all those guys, it's a good thing." When he was asked whether he considered the Steelers to be a "player-led team," Rodgers replied after urging the players to step up, "It needs to be even more, probably." He added, "... Accountability is an important part of this thing, so we're all accountable to each other."
