Stephen Curry hasn't stepped on the court for the 2026-27 NBA season yet, but is already making history after signing a new contract extension with the Golden State Warriors. Curry, signed a two-year, $116 million contract extension with the Warriors with a player option in 2028-29, according to ESPN's NBA insider, Shams Charania. The 38-year-old Warriors star reportedly took $20 million less than his maximum salary, Charania reported via Bobby Marks.
Marks also reported on Curry making history with his new deal, as he's become the first NBA player ever with $600 million-plus in on court earnings. He'll enter his 18th season in 2026 with the Warriors. Other players near that $600 million milestone in on court earnings are LeBron James and Kevin Durant, whom Marks reported at $598 million and $592 million, respectively.

His team failed to reach the NBA Playoffs last season, losing in the NBA Play-In Tournament to the Phoenix Suns in the No. 8 seed elimination game. By taking less than the maximum salary, Curry gives the Warriors additional salary-cap space to make moves next summer.
