Tanner McKee will start at quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles in Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. McKee, who entered the league as a sixth-round draft pick for the Eagles in 2023, is being thrust into the QB1 job following the unexpected news that Jalen Hurts will be out due to a superficial blood clot on his leg. McKee has limited NFL experience, appearing in six total games and making two starts for the Eagles.
Through his time on the field, he's completed 61.4% of his pass attempts for 597 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. McKee's teammates, particularly veteran linebacker Zack Baun, are confident in his abilities as a starting QB option. I told someone that it’s just seeming like he’s got some sort of Tom Brady career arc to him, because he’s totally capable, he’s tall, he knows where to go with the ball, he gets it out on time and he’s got a lot of confidence in these receivers," Baun said, via BleedingGreenNation.
Plagued with injury issues, the Eagles have dropped each of their last three games after starting the season 2-0. This past weekend, they suffered a devastating loss on a game-winning field goal from the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Panthers will kick off at 1 p.m.
