Prince Harry has made it clear that he wants to reconcile with his family, and apparently they’re not having it. While the royals haven’t said anything directly (their motto is “never complain, never explain,” after all), sources say the family is less than thrilled about Harry’s recent GQ interview. During the sit-down, Harry made it clear that he hopes to reconcile with his estranged brother, Prince William, saying, “People look at us, and go ‘How are you going to work it out?’ Some people don’t want it to work out.
I want it to work out.” He then added, “With everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile. That’s the key point.” Harry’s “some people don’t want it to work out” comment was interpreted as a dig at William, but his rep told Page Six that the comment, “was absolutely not intended as a swipe at his brother or any other member of his family. The comment was made in a general context and was not directed at his family in any way.” Cut to the royals, who were allegedly bothered that Harry’s interview dropped on the same day as the State Visit with the Sultan of Oman.
Though, to be fair, the interview was likely filmed well before GQ published it, and Harry likely had no say in the matter. Meanwhile, a “senior figure in royal circles” complained to the Daily Mail, “Does he really think everyone has collective amnesia after the last few years?” Another added, “If he really does want reconciliation, why doesn’t he just bloody shut up about it?” Well then! Now that Harry’s living in England again, chances are he’ll come face-to-face with Prince William at some point, so here’s to hoping a reconciliation is in their future!
