The Minnesota Timberwolves recently acquired free-agent wing Jonathan Kuminga one a two-year, $12.4 million contract — furthering their position as a contender in the Western Conference. With his decision to sign with the Timberwolves, Kuminga joins a talented young roster featuring Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, Ayo Dosunmu, Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert. The Timberwolves posted a video of Kuminga and Edwards connecting for the first time as teammates on Tuesday night.
During their interaction, Edwards exuded confidence and delivered a strong warning to NBA competition ahead of the 2026-27 season. "Ya'll see what's going on. This [expletive] is over with, man.
Wrap this [expletive] up. This [expletive] is over this year, man," Edwards said. Kuminga spent his first four full NBA seasons with the Golden State Warriors, but was traded to the Atlanta Hawks midway through the 2025-26 season.
He chose to sign with the Timberwolves over offers from the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls and Portland Trail Blazers. The Timberwolves will begin their 2026-27 regular-season schedule with a matchup against the Miami Heat on Oct. 21.
