Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward announced a significant off-field move just before the 2026 NFL season.
The Cleveland Browns signed veteran cornerback Denzel Ward on a two-year, $62 million contract extension with $52 million guaranteed earlier this offseason, making him the highest-paid cornerback in league history at the time of his signing. Now, Ward is putting some of that new-found money to use. The 29-year-old cornerback has joined the ownership group of MLB's Cleveland Guardians as a minority investor.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was announced as part owner in a similar capacity back in May. I’m so blessed to be able to show up for this city on the field and now as a part of the Guardians organization,” Ward said in a statement on Wednesday.
