The Tennessee Titans and Chicago Bears shared the field for a joint practice on Thursday, preparing for their preseason matchup this coming weekend. Williams had another solid practice at the quarterback position for the Bears, and Titans head coach Robert Saleh took notice. After practice, Saleh called Williams a "modern day Russell Wilson." The Tennessee coach specifically compared the two players' ability to perform in the clutch, according to NFL reporter Turron Davenport of ESPN.
Williams recorded six fourth-quarter-comeback, game-winning drives in 2025, trailing only Denver Broncos signal caller Bo Nix (7) for most of the year. Most recently, he piloted a stunning 18-point, fourth-quarter comeback to defeat the division-rival Green Bay Packers in the wild card round. Williams and the Bears will look to continue their positive momentum into the 2026 campaign.
Earlier this year, Chicago head coach Ben Johnson vocalized his aspirations to put forth the best offense in NFL history this coming season. The Bears will open up their regular-season schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 13.
