Two teams that also have their eye on a playoff berth begin a three-game set Tuesday as the New York Yankees (74-56) host the Houston Astros (65-66) at 7:05 p.m. ET at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y. The Yankees, who have reached the postseason eight of the last nine years, have won six of their last seven contests.
New York sits atop the AL wild card standings, 2 1/2 games ahead of the Boston Red Sox, and trails the Tampa Bay Rays by 3 1/2 games for first place in the AL East. Houston is looking to get back on track after having lost six of eight to fall out of a playoff spot. The Astros are a half-game behind the Texas Rangers for the AL West lead and the Guardians for the third wild card.
