The Los Angeles Rams made two massive defensive moves this offseason, trading for reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett and bringing all-time great NFL pass rusher Aaron Donald out of retirement ahead of the 2026 NFL season. This wasn't exactly welcome news for Trent Williams and the San Francisco 49ers' offensive line. When speaking to NFL reporter Lindsey Thiry in Australia, Williams shared his reaction to the Rams' addition of Donald before their Week 1 matchup.
"On the heels of them getting Myles Garrett, there's an old saying, 'When it rains it pours,'" Williams replied with a laugh. "Luckily we're not the only people that have to deal with them two, but I guess we'll be the guinea pigs of the NFL. See how they are together for the first time.
"Two all-time great players. They'll obviously be a handful individually. So having them both together, that's going to be two handfuls.
We've got to see how we can try to contain them — hopefully limit their impact." Williams and the 49ers actually won't be the NFL's "guinea pigs" for this combo. Donald will not travel with the team to Australia as he continues to ramp up into shape after signing with the Rams. Thursday's game will kick off at 8:35 p.m.
