According to MLB.com's transactions log, the Twins have signed pitcher Ron Marinaccio to a minor league deal. In addition, the 6-foot-2 righty has been assigned to Triple-A St. The Twins signing Marinaccio comes a few days after he was designated for assignment by the Cincinnati Reds and subsequently elected free agency.
Now, with this news, he has found his new home with the Twins organization. Marinaccio has been on the move often this season, as he has had stints with the San Diego Padres, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Reds. Now, he has found his latest landing spot with the Twins with this latest news.
In 41 games this season split between San Diego, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati, Marinaccio had a 1-0 record, 6.09 ERA, and 48 strikeouts. He will be looking to impress down in Triple-A in hopes of landing a call-up to the Twins' major league roster before the season is over. In 149 career MLB games over five seasons split between the New York Yankees, Padres, Pirates, and Reds, Marinaccio has posted a 7-5 record, a 3.98 ERA, and 197 strikeouts.
