After suffering a brutal season-ending injury last year with the Miami Dolphins, Tyreek Hill is ready to make his NFL comeback, and according to one insider, it could be with one of two early AFC contenders. After beginning his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, Hill spent the past four seasons with the Dolphins. After suffering a dislocated left knee and multiple torn ligaments in Week 4 last season, Hill underwent season-ending surgery, and Miami released him earlier this year.
Now that he's recovered, the door is open for him to sign. His agent indicated on Monday that he planned to negotiate with teams and expected Hill to sign this week. According to NFL insider Albert Breer, his best guess would be that the AFC's Buffalo Bills or Kansas City Chiefs will sign Hill.
However, Breer cautioned that Hill is coming off a "really difficult" injury and raised concerns about his ability to recuperate at age 32. He also indicated it would seem "pretty seamless" to add Hill back into the Chiefs' offense with Eric Bieniemy as offensive coordinator. However, Breer said Hill "makes sense for Buffalo, too." He mentioned that Buffalo is dealing with DJ Moore being "banged up" and is missing a key part of its receiving corps: "a burner." He suggested Hill could fulfill that role for the Bills and "maybe unlock a little bit more downfield for Josh Allen." The Bills suffered their first loss of the season to Drake Maye and the New England Patriots this past weekend, while Kansas City survived a late-game scare from the Las Vegas Raiders to stay undefeated at 4-0.
Both teams look like early AFC contenders, which is no surprise considering their star quarterbacks and supporting casts. Breer also suggested another factor could come into play, with the Chiefs and Bills potentially considering Hill partly to prevent the other AFC contender from adding him for a playoff run.
