For New York Knicks fans, few names sting like Tyrese Haliburton. He sent New York home in the 2024 playoffs. A year later, he did it again in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Haliburton tore his Achilles in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals and missed all of last season. While he rehabbed, the Knicks beat the Spurs to end a title drought of more than 50 years. Speaking with host Speedy Morman on Boardroom Talks, Haliburton admitted his first instinct was to look away.
"When the Knicks won, I thought to myself, 'I gotta turn this [expletive] off.' I can't watch it," Haliburton said. Haliburton said he always watches Finals celebrations. Still, when his wife, Jade, and friends offered to switch it off, he said no.
"You know what, leave it on. And to see Jalen celebrate with Ali, his wife... me and my wife are friends with them. I was like, that's awesome to see," Haliburton said.
He also loved seeing Josh Hart with his twins and Karl-Anthony Towns with Jordyn Woods. But he did not pretend the rivalry was gone. We hate each other when we're playing, but after that, it's love," Haliburton said.
I was angry, but I was also happy. I was sad that I didn't get the opportunity to compete in that," he added. Haliburton closed the topic on a warning note.
