Brock Faber will be out indefinitely for the Minnesota Wild after suffering a fractured skull during the preseason.

The Minnesota Wild kick off their 2026-27 regular season against the Nashville Predators on Oct. 1, but they are going to be without one of their top stars. The Wild have announced that star defenseman Brock Faber has suffered a fractured skull. In addition, the Wild shared that an injury recovery timeline for Faber will be announced at a later time.

Faber suffered his fractured skull during the Wild's Sep. 25 preseason contest against the Dallas Stars. The Wild star blueliner was hit in the head by a wrist shot from Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen. This is certainly a rough blow for the Wild, as Faber is one of their most important players.

Now, Minnesota is going to need to adjust to not having him in the lineup as he works on his recovery. With Faber set to miss an indefinite amount of time, Wild captain Jared Spurgeon is expected to take over his spot on their top pairing with Quinn Hughes. Faber appeared in 80 games this past season for the Wild, where he posted 15 goals, 36 assists, 51 points, and a plus-18 rating.
