The New York Yankees are going to be without star infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. for at least the next little bit. While speaking to reporters, Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced that Chisholm has been diagnosed with a sprained right thumb and has been placed on the 10-day injured list. In addition, Boone shared that Chisholm will not participate in baseball activities for the next seven to 10 days.
Chisholm suffered his injury in the Yankees' most recent game against the Colorado Rockies after sliding head-first into second base and jamming his thumb. He left the game at the top of the ninth inning because of it. Now, with this latest update from Boone, it is confirmed that Chisholm is going to miss time.
With the Yankees fighting to maintain their top wild card spot in the American League, it is certainly rough that Chisholm is now going to be sidelined. This is especially so when noting that New York is in the final stretch of their regular season. Yet, the Yankees will now need to adjust to not having Chisholm in their lineup for the time being.
In 134 games this season with New York, he has posted 19 home runs, 40 stolen bases, 55 RBI, and a .232 batting average.
