The Alabama Crimson Tide and star quarterback Keelon Russell saw their perfect season come to an end at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday. But despite the end result not going his way, Russell showed all class with how he handled himself following the game, which he received widespread praise for on social media. On paper, there were plenty of reasons why anyone in Russell's position would be frustrated following the game.
Not only did Alabama's perfect season come to an end. But Crimson Tide players also have a very fair gripe with the officiating in the game after their final offensive drive of the game was cut short, in-part due to a controversial no-call on a pass attempt from Russell that clearly appeared to warrant a pass interference call. In a video posted by Wilson Alexander of On3 Sports, Russel could be seen standing out of the spotlight while Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton conducted an on-field interview. The two appeared to share some words and a warm embrace once Stockton was done with the interview. Thus far, it has mostly been Russell's excellent play thus far this season that has him in a position to potentially see his name go off the board quickly in the 2028 NFL Draft, which would be the first year he is eligible to declare for the draft. However, this moment could certainly be factored into the thought process of NFL scouts, as it clearly shows that Russell appears to be an incredibly humble and likable person, on top of being an intriguing talent as a player. Russell and the Crimson Tide will look to rebound in their Week 7 matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers.
