The Indianapolis Colts are less than 24 hours away from a crucial matchup against the Washington Commanders in London, England, and they'll have to play without one of their top offensive weapons. The Colts sit at 1-2 after early losses to the Ravens and Chiefs, but they can climb back to .500 with a win Sunday against the Commanders, who also enter the matchup at 1-2. Unfortunately for quarterback Daniel Jones, he'll have to do it without veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday morning that Allen has been downgraded to "out" with a groin injury. Allen is coming off his best game as a Colt, hauling in six catches on nine targets for 63 yards and a touchdown in Indianapolis' 19-17 win over the Texans in Week 3. He signed with Indianapolis late in the offseason, not joining the team until late August, but with so many moving pieces in the Colts' receiver room, he was expected to take on a significant role right away. The team traded Michael Pittman Jr. earlier in the offseason and planned to lean on Alec Pierce as its WR1 after his breakout 2025 campaign. But Pierce recently reaggravated the same heel that required surgery in the offseason and was placed on injured reserve.
He'll miss at least the next three games after already sitting out last week's contest against Houston. Allen was expected to help fill that void, as he did in the win over the Texans. Now, he'll miss time as well.

But losing Allen this close to kickoff is a significant blow to the offense. More pressure will fall on Jonathan Taylor, Josh Downs and tight end Tyler Warren, while Darius Slayton could also see an expanded role after signing with the Colts just over a week ago.
