The New York Giants continue to be hit with devastating injury news. In Week 2, the team lost starting quarterback Jaxson Dart to a knee injury that will likely keep him off the field for the remainder of the 2026 regular season. And during Sunday's Week 3 win over the Tennessee Titans, the Giants lost another key player.
Star pass rusher Brian Burns went down with a knee injury in the fourth quarter, heading straight to the locker room with medical personnel. On Monday morning, reports indicate that Burns is believed to have suffered a season-ending ACL tear. "Giants standout pass rusher Brian Burns is believed to have torn his ACL during Sunday’s win over the Titans, sources tell @rapsheet and me.
Burns entered Sunday’s game with an ankle injury, then hurt his knee," ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported. Burns played in Sunday's game despite missing practice all week with a low ankle sprain. He recored a career-high 16.5 sacks last season, earning the third Pro Bowl selection of his eight-year NFL career.
"Everybody knows what Burns brings to the team," edge rusher Abdul Carter said after the Giants' Week 3 win. "I'm hoping it's nothing too bad." The Giants are now 2-1 to open up the season. They'll face off against the Arizona Cardinals in their next matchup this coming Sunday.
