Across 10 games, he completed just 57.6% of his passes for 1,632 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. The Vikings still went 6-4 in those games thanks in large part to one of the NFL's best defenses, while Justin Jefferson endured the worst statistical season of his career. Minnesota clearly didn't like what it saw, bringing in Kyler Murray during the offseason to take over at quarterback.
Even when Murray suffered an injury in Week 1, McCarthy couldn't reclaim the job. Instead, the Vikings turned to 33-year-old veteran Carson Wentz. Just like that, McCarthy went from national championship-winning quarterback and prized first-round pick to third-stringer, making his decline one of the NFL's biggest ongoing storylines.

McCarthy has no shortage of weapons. Of course, he had weapons in Minnesota too.
But if McCarthy can win games in New York, most of the questions surrounding him will disappear pretty quickly. His first chance could come Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, although that would be a pretty quick turnaround time. The Giants will likely wait until Week 5, when they travel to face the Washington Commanders in Landover, Maryland.
