Keenan Allen officially signed with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday, securing his new team ahead of his 14th NFL season. This move reunites Allen with head coach Shane Steichen, who had seven seasons of overlap with the superstar wide receiver as an assistant in San Diego/Los Angeles. When speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Allen said his relationship with Steichen played a significant role in his decision to sign with the Colts.
"Just the way he runs things, he's a genius," Allen said. "He knows the game, he knows the ins and outs. The way that he knows the game, I know the game as well.
That's how I was kind of raised in the NFL world." Allen played his first season away from the Chargers organization in 2025, suiting up for the Chicago Bears. Through 17 regular-season appearances, the veteran wide receiver reeled in 81 catches for 777 yards and four touchdowns. Allen now joins a pass-catching group featuring wide receivers Alec Pierce and Josh Downs, as well as star tight end Tyler Warren.
The Colts will open up their 2026 regular-season schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 13.
