The Baltimore Ravens already had the difficult task of replacing three-time Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum this offseason after he signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency. But now, the Ravens may be back to square one. According to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo, Ravens center Danny Pinter, who was set to replace Linderbaum this season, was carted off the field during the team's latest joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings.
It's still unclear what exactly transpired and the severity of the injury, but reporters on the scene said that the medical staff appeared to be examining Pinter's knee and players looked concerned that Pinter had suffered a serious injury. If that turns out to be the case, it will be another tough loss for the Ravens offensive line. Pinter is currently listed as the team's starting center on its depth chart, which means it would now have to turn to the next option in Ethan Pocic.
However, even Pocic is not completely healthy as he is coming off a season-ending torn Achilles tendon. Ravens head coach Jesse Minter did reveal they are targeting the second week of preseason to increase Pocic’s workload, though, per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. Pinter began his professional career as a fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts.
He spent the first six years of his career in Indianapolis before joining the Ravens this offseason. He has stayed relatively healthy throughout his career, outside of missing the 2023 season with a broken ankle. The Ravens will certainly hope he didn't just suffer his second season-ending injury.
A native of South Bend, Indiana, Pinter played college football at Ball State, where he transitioned from tight end to offensive tackle and was an All-Mid-American Conference first-team honoree in 2019.
