Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has taken a lot of flak over the last few days for serving his alma mater, LSU, with a cease-and-desist letter banning the school from using his name, image, and likeness after it allowed another player to wear Daniels’ old No. 5. Social media has been unrelenting in its mockery of Daniels — “I’m going to stop at 4 out of respect for Jayden Daniels” has become a popular punchline — and LSU added more fuel to the fire with what it posted during Monday afternoon’s practice. The video, which was an obvious shot at Daniels, went viral on X, garnering 2.1 million views and 12,000 likes in 24 hours. Fans were savagely roasting Daniels in the comment section too. Daniels played just two seasons in Baton Rouge.
Though he won the Heisman Trophy and led the country in touchdown passes (40) during his final season, Tiger fans don’t think he left a legacy strong enough to raise a fuss over another player wearing his old jersey number. However, the former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year was reportedly led to believe by the university that no one else would wear his No. 5 because of his Heisman Trophy triumph.
