The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks took the league by storm last season behind one of the NFL's most explosive offenses. The wide receiver room played a big role in that, with Jaxon Smith-Njigba enjoying a career year, along with steady contributions from Cooper Kupp and Rashid Shaheed. But two other key contributors to that offense are currently dealing with injuries: Jake Bobo and second-year wideout Tory Horton.
Bobo left Friday's joint practice against the Titans with what's being considered a "serious, long-term" knee injury. No official diagnosis or timeline has been announced, but it's a devastating blow given his standing as a fan favorite and beloved teammate. Horton is another significant loss for Seattle, especially in light of the Bobo news.
He's coming off a strong rookie season in 2025, but his year was cut short by a fractured shin suffered in Week 9. He underwent offseason surgery but has been sidelined recently with an undisclosed injury after participating fully at the start of training camp. On Friday, head coach Mike Macdonald gave an update on Horton but offered no definitive timeline and didn't explain why he hasn't practiced recently.
"He's still working through his stuff," Macdonald said. "He's going to be out for a period of time." When asked a follow-up question about Horton's situation, Macdonald grinned and added, "Sorry, I just don't want to tell you." He quickly became one of Seattle's top red-zone threats, hauling in 13 catches for 161 yards and five touchdowns across eight games — the third-most receiving touchdowns on the team.
But Week 9 against the Commanders ended up being his final game of the season; he missed the next two games before landing on season-ending injured reserve. That Washington game was also his breakout performance, as he hauled in two touchdown passes and 48 receiving yards on four catches. This season, Horton was expected to take another step forward and slot in as the No. 4 receiver on the depth chart behind Smith-Njigba, Kupp, and Shaheed.
