With star wide receiver A.J. Brown being injured, the New England Patriots should target Los Angeles Chargers' Quentin Johnston.

The New England Patriots have certainly been feeling the impact of star wide receiver A.J. Brown suffered a right high-ankle sprain in the Patriots' Week 1 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks and is currently on injured reserve. The earliest that Brown could return to game action for New England is Week 6 due to his injured reserve placement.

Yet, with the Patriots' offense having such a poor start to the season, it would not be surprising if they looked to add another wide receiver while Brown is out. Now, an interesting potential trade target for the Patriots has emerged. Bleacher Report recently named Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston one of the top trade candidates in the NFL right now.

With the Patriots needing help at wide receiver, they would be very smart to target him. Johnston would give Patriots quarterback Drake Maye another solid weapon to work with, which is a real need right now for New England. Johnston has shown during his career that he can make an impact, so it would make sense if the Patriots made a big push for him.

In three games this season with the Chargers, Johnston has six receptions and 64 receiving yards. He also recorded eight touchdowns during the 2024 and 2025 seasons, so he has shown that he can be a difference-maker. It will be intriguing to see if this leads New England to target him from here.
