The Green Bay Packers (1-2) have had a brutal start to the 2026 NFL season and rank last in the league in rushing yards per game (48.7) entering Week 4. Head coach Matt LaFleur and company have had a busy couple of days this week addressing their struggling, injury-ravaged offensive line, and are reportedly making another move on Wednesday. Multiple reports said Wednesday morning that the Packers were signing 36-year-old guard Kevin Zeitler.
ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter pointed out that the move will be a reunion of sorts for Zeitler. The addition of the 2023 Pro Bowler should help Green Bay's rushing attack, which has registered just 146 total yards on the ground. According to a report by ESPN Packers insider Rob Demovsky, that's the franchise's fewest rushing yards through three games in a season since at least 1933.
Zeitler was the 27th overall pick during the 2012 NFL Draft and spent his first five seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. He's also played with the Cleveland Browns (2017-18), New York Giants (2019-20), Baltimore Ravens (2021-23), Detroit Lions (2024) and Tennessee Titans (2025). Zeitler's been a durable lineman across his career, appearing in at least 12 games in each of his 14 seasons and 15 or more every year since 2015.
Green Bay will travel to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4 on Sunday afternoon.
