New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel didn't come away very impressed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The Steelers put just three points on the board in a contest that included a 3-for-13 performance on third- and fourth-down conversion attempts and allowed seven hits on quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Patriots, on the other hand, scored more points on defense than their opponents did on offense and did so while playing with extreme aggressiveness.
Vrabel took all of that into account when assessing the performances on both sides. Vrabel has never been one to bite his tongue, but it always stands out when he's willing to go as far as bring his opponent down a notch when trying to put things into perspective for his own team. Vrabel, quarterback Drake Maye, and everyone else in New England are well aware that the game had more to due with the away team's issues and not the home side's dominance -- though they are enjoying the victory all the same.
"You got to be excited and enjoy the win," Maye said. "But at the same time, you realize that playing like this isn't going to end up with offensively us leading our team to wins. …It starts with me." "(We're) just trying to win the game," Vrabel told one reporter Sunday. "You're not going to ruin my Sunday, but I'll come back to you tomorrow.
Thanks, bud." It's time to get back to work, because the guy clearly isn't cool with the way things have looked through two weeks.
