Patriots OC Josh McDaniels Didn’t Know AJ Brown Was Placed on IR

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said he wasn't aware that AJ Brown was placed on IR this weekend.

This past Friday, news emerged that the New England Patriots were placing star wide receiver AJ Brown on injured reserve due to the ankle injury he suffered during his debut with the franchise on Wednesday night. With this decision, the high-ankle sprain that Brown suffered in the Patriots' season-opening loss to the Seattle Seahawks will hold him off the field for at least the next four games. New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was asked about this IR decision during a radio appearance on Saturday.

His response was interesting to say the least. "That's interesting, we weren't in today so I haven't quite heard all that stuff," McDaniels said. "Look, any injury that you get at this point in time in the season, you kind of approach it with an all-hands-on-deck approach.

"We got a lot of different skill guys that can do a lot of different things. There isn’t one person on our roster that can replace anybody like A.J. in the middle of a game or for a stretch of the season," McDaniels added. "We’ll band together, we’ll figure out what we can do well, and then try to get the guys in positions to play to their strengths.” The Patriots will look to bounce back in their Week 2 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers this coming Sunday.
