The 2026 college football preseason AP Poll was released on Monday, and the Georgia Bulldogs found themselves with No. 3 position on the list. Georgia trails only the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks in this year's rankings. Kirby Smart's team got the nod over fellow top-five programs Notre Dame and Texas.

ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum feels Georgia is too high up in the rankings heading into the 2026 season. During an appearance on SportsCenter, he said he thinks the Bulldogs are outside of the three best teams in the country. Finebaum also claimed Georgia is getting preferential treatment in the rankings, comparing the program to the Alabama Crimson Tide of the Nick Saban coaching era.

Georgia is now the new Alabama. It doesn’t matter what we think; they’re just going to be ranked in the top three,” Finebaum said on Monday, via On3 Sports.
