Pitt WR Stressed Out Coach for Weird Reason

Pittsburgh wide receiver Tyreek Robinson gave his coach "chest pains" for an unorthodox reason.

Pittsburgh Panthers wide receiver Tyreek Robinson reportedly gave his coach Pat Narduzzi "chest pains," but not for the reason you'd expect. He wasn't partying or getting into trouble, nor was an issue with his grades. The problem was that the Louisiana native was fishing in the Monongahela River, which is on the rebound but was severely polluted by coal mining, reports the Allegheny Front.

Robinson had snagged a big bass, reportedly 5 to 6 pounds, per Ira Gorawara of The Athletic, and told his teammates about it. I mean, you can go buy some fish. … There’s a fish market down the street right on campus. But he decided he wanted to go catch his own.

The coaches told Robinson the river is polluted, to which he said he "had no idea." An avid fisherman, the receiver said he loves fishing as a hobby, something Narduzzi agreed with, calling Robinson a "country boy" who is "as genuine as you can get." “He’s just a real kid that, you know, just gonna do what he wants to do or what he thought about doing back home,” Narduzzi said. Perhaps thanks in part to Robinson's decision to not eat fish from the Monongahela, he's gearing up for another season for the Panthers. He missed 2025, but in 2024, he played in five games and had three catches for 27 yards.

He was more successful, though, as a kick returner, racking up 182 yards on eight returns. And it wasn't as if he had only one long return. His career long is 35 yards, and he has at least four returns of 20 yards or more.

He hopes to contribute on the field more this season — and maybe catch some fish off of it. Just not from the Monongahela.
