Michael Pittman Jr. was spotted on a one-legged scooter after Wednesday's Week 5 practice. And on Thursday, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed that the veteran wide receiver will miss "multiple weeks" with his injury. Pittman re-aggravated the same plantar fasciitis foot injury that's been giving him trouble throughout his 2026 season thus far.
McCarthy said the Steelers are "going through the evaluation of Pittman's roster position," indicating that the team could place him on the injured reserve and rule him out for at least the next four weeks of NFL action. The Steelers acquired Pittman in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts this past offseason, ultimately signing him on a three-year, $59 million contract extension before his debut season in Pittsburgh. Pittman hasn't lived up to expectations so far this season, reeling in just seven catches for 89 yards and no scores.
In his 2025 season with the Colts, he had 80 catches for 784 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns. The Steelers are 2-2 to begin the 2026 season following last week's "Thursday Night Football" loss to the division-rival Cleveland Browns. The team will look to get back on track in Sunday's Week 5 matchup against Pittman's former Colts squad.
