Two high-speed trains have collided in Spain killing at least 10 people, according to Spanish state media and other reports. Spain’s rail system operator ADIF said that the incident occurred Wednesday morning in the province of Toledo. Esther Padilla, spokesperson for the government of Castilla-La Mancha, told state broadcaster TVE that "The number of deaths is going to increase," describing the incident as "of significant gravity".
A spokesman for rail operator Adif told Newsweek: "At kilometre point 118, the incident involved two trains, one an Iryo service and the other an AVE service, which were travelling on the same Madrid-Seville route. Rail traffic is currently suspended." This is a breaking story and will be updated.
