The Houston Texans are signing linebacker Kenneth Murray after Henry To'oTo'o suffered an injury against the Buffalo Bills.

Murray signed with the Houston Texans' practice squad on Tuesday, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. The Texans were in need of linebacker depth after Henry To'oTo'o was placed on injured reserve following Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills. Azeez Al-Shaair, Jake Hansen, Jake Hummel, and Wade Woodaz are all on the active roster, so the move is certainly only for depth.

Murray, who previously spent time with the Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans, and Los Angeles Chargers, is originally from Houston. To’oTo’o’s shoulder injury is expected to sideline him for months, with the injury coming at an especially rough time considering he inked a two-year, $16 million extension — one that included $12.4 million guaranteed -- during the offseason spending spree that included extensions for Will Anderson Jr., Danielle Hunter, and Al-Shaair. Murray worked out for the New York Giants in July and the Miami Dolphins in August, but the former first-round pick finally gets another chance back at home.
