The Airbnb.org Gala is a charity event that highlights Airbnb’s efforts to provide free emergency housing for people affected by natural disasters and medical needs. This marks the first time the organization has hosted the gala, which took place at Milk Studios in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28. According to its official website, Airbnb.org is a nonprofit organization founded by Airbnb.
The org has “provided over 1.6 million nights of free housing for people affected by disasters, illness, or other times of crisis,” since its inception in 2020. Details on what actually happens inside are pretty slim, but according to a report from United Press International, comedian Jimmy Kimmel hosted the event. Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky also pledged $500 million over five years to scale up their emergency housing relief.
