Bears Reveal Tyson Bagent's Status Ahead of Monday Night Matchup With Eagles

The Bears' QB situation just shifted again, with new clarity on Tyson Bagent's status ahead of Monday night's clash with Philly.

Caleb Williams hasn't practiced all week, and while he hasn't technically been ruled out for the Chicago Bears' clash against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, it's very unlikely he'll suit up. All week, signs have pointed to Case Keenum getting the start, as not only is Williams dealing with a hamstring injury, but backup Tyson Bagent entered concussion protocol immediately after the Bears' Week 2 loss to Minnesota. Now, just two days before the big primetime game, things have taken a major turn in Chicago.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Bagent has officially cleared concussion protocol and practiced Saturday. That news alone doesn't necessarily guarantee he'll be the starter Monday night, but it certainly feels that way. But there's no getting around the fact that Bagent is the better option. He's younger, more mobile in the pocket, and has already shown an ability to take over and play well in big games. Now in his fourth season with the Bears, Bagent has thrown for 971 yards and three touchdowns with six interceptions, completing 65.8% of his passes, along with 109 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

He started four games for Chicago during his rookie season in 2023, after Justin Fields went down, and went 2-2 as the starter. Fans will be hoping for much of the same Monday night in Chicago, though the Eagles will be a much tougher test.
