The Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver room seems to have taken a bit of a hit as one of its rising stars is sidelined with an injury. According to Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union, wide receiver Parker Washington is day to day and will be out for at least the rest of the week with an undisclosed injury. It's certainly not good news as Washington has quickly become an important part of the Jaguars offense.
Last season, the 24-year-old broke out with a career-high 58 catches for 847 yards and five touchdowns. Washington has looked ready to pick up right where he left off as he has reportedly been one of the stars of Jacksonville's training camp. This isn't to say that won't happen, but Washington's injury is worth monitoring as the Jaguars prepare for their second game of the preseason against the Carolina Panthers on Aug. 21.
Jaguars head coach Liam Coen revealed the team does plan to play its starters for a few drives, so it will be interesting to see how the offense operates without Washington in it. In the meantime, the Jaguars will have to rely on their other wide receivers, including Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, Travis Hunter, Josh Cameron and CJ Williams, among others. A sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Washington has recorded 106 catches for 1,369 yards and 10 touchdowns in his professional career.
