Superstar safety Kyle Hamilton secured victory for the Baltimore Ravens with an overtime interception in Sunday night's matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Hamilton picked off a pass over the middle of the field from backup quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who came into the game for an injured Michael Penix Jr. In the days following this game, Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey publicly told a story about Hamilton's reaction to Tagovailoa entering the game.
Hamilton clarified this story when speaking to reporters on Thursday. "That was pretty hyperbolic by Marlon," Hamilton said, via team insider Jamison Hensley of ESPN. "I would say the way he presented it was not how I was presented.
It was more so the defense's opportunity to go win the game. It doesn't matter who it was. Could have been a sack, could have been a fourth down stop, could have been a pick.
"And obviously Tua was the backup quarterback and he hadn't played that much. I think he got one snap before that in the game. So it's like, 'Hey, we're taking advantage of somebody who's coming in the game, hasn't been in there for a while.' [I] got upmost respect for Tua as a player, as a person.
I know him, he's a good guy. And no malice." The 4-1 Ravens will look to continue their positive momentum into Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the division-rival Cleveland Browns.
