The Seattle Seahawks agreed to terms with former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold last week. However, it doesn't look like he's going to be on the field for them anytime soon. According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, the NFL plans to put Arnold on the commissioner’s exempt list once he has has officially signed with the team.
While the news is quite unfortunate for the Seahawks, it shouldn't be coming as a surprise, either, as Arnold has eight pending felony charges in connection with a robbery and kidnapping in February. It's unclear when and how long Arnold will be the commissioner’s exempt list, but the Seahawks are certainly hoping it will only be a short stint as they look to defend their Super Bowl title in 2026. The Lions selected Arnold with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and he impressed as a rookie, recording 60 tackles, one fumble recovery and 10 passes defensed.
Then last season, Arnold continued to look the part while racking up another 31 tackles, eight passes defensed and his first career interception. But his 2025 campaign was cut short when he was placed on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury that required season-ending surgery. A native of Tallahassee, Florida, Arnold played college football at Alabama, where he had 108 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, 20 passes defensed and six interceptions from 2022-23.
