The Baltimore Ravens had an unfortunate outing against the Buffalo Bills in Week 8, losing both superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson and capable backup signal caller Tyler Huntley to significant injuries in the first half. Jackson, who missed each of the previous three games with an ankle injury, suffered an injury to his right throwing thumb on his first play of the game. He's out indefinitely as he prepares to undergo surgery and hit the injured reserve.
There was initial hope that Huntley would be able to return sooner rather than later, but further testing revealed that he's suffered a season-ending toe injury. Undrafted rookie quarterback Joe Fagnano, who came in to replace Jackson and Huntley in Week 8, will serve as the team's starting signal caller in Thursday night's primetime matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In response to the injuries for Jackson and Huntley, the Ravens signed quarterbacks Kedon Slovis and Austin Reed as reserve options behind Fagnano.
Baltimore could also pursue other quarterback options before next week's trade deadline. Thursday's matchup against the Jaguars will kick off at 8:15 p.m.
