The New Orleans Saints flew to Oxnard, California, for a joint practice against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday without their first-round pick in April's draft due to another hamstring injury. Per Nick Underhill of New Orleans.Football, wide receiver Jordyn Tyson is expected to be out for approximately the next two months, and the Saints could put him on injured reserve to begin the regular season. Tyson dealt with hamstring issues during the 2025 season with Arizona State.
He dealt with hamstring issues during the pre-draft process. After the Saints took him with the No. 8 pick in the draft, Tyson missed some of OTAs and mandatory minicamp due to the same issue. Underhill noted that there is a worry Tyson could be susceptible to soft-tissue injuries going forward. "The fact that there's ongoing issues with those ligaments is something that's going to have people holding their breath now for a very long time until enough time passes to where we no longer remember to hold our breath and kind of worry about where he's at," Underhill said. "This is a lingering issue, and his talent is unbelievable.
His talent should have had him drafted way higher than he did. He went incredibly high in this draft. He's looked the part at practices." Tyson had a breakout year in 2024, catching 75 passes for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns for ASU.
He caught 61 passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns last season. The injury is a big blow to second-year quarterback Tyler Shough, who would have had a nice tandem of targets with Tyson and Chris Olave. Tyson could make an impact later in the regular season, but the Saints will have to wait.
