Zach Neto has often been a big name in trade deadline rumors. With former general manager Perry Minasian out and new interim GM John Mozeliak navigating this season's deadline, this summer seemed like Neto could really be leaving the Angels. The Angels traded a handful MLB players who have been with the organization for multiple seasons, such as catcher Logan O'Hoppe, outfielder Jo Adell and starting pitcher Jose Soriano.
But Los Angeles ultimately decided to keep Neto through the deadline. "It was a stressful week, two weeks," Neto said about the days leading up to the deadline. "Just not trying to pay attention to any of the outside noise but just be able to come to work every single day and keep giving it my all for my teammates and for the fans here in Anaheim." Neto told MLB Network he wanted to stay with the Angels through the deadline.
He explained how he wants to be part of the team that helps turn the Angels around. "After the trade deadline was over, I had a talk with Mo (Mozeliak) and we just talked about how special I wanted to be here. This place, they drafted me.
I'm very loyal and I want to stay here. I want to be able to flip this thing around for the team," Neto said. Making the playoffs is not in the picture for the Angels this season.
But Neto is still under team control through the 2029 season, so he likely has a few more seasons to get the Halos playing in October.
