The New York Rangers have made a notable move, as they have re-signed defenseman Scott Morrow to a one-year contract.

The New York Rangers are keeping one of their promising young defenseman around. The Rangers have announced that they have signed defenseman Scott Morrow to a one-year contract for the 2026-27 season. According to PuckPedia, Morrow will have an $850,000 cap hit at the NHL level for the Rangers and an AHL salary of $125,000 with his new contract.

With Morrow being one of the Rangers' top young defensemen, it was important for them to get the 23-year-old blueliner signed. Now that his new deal is done, he will be looking to put together a breakout year for New York in 2026-27. Morrow appeared in 29 games last season with the Rangers, where he posted six assists.

He also played in 34 AHL games with the Hartford Wolf Pack this past campaign, recording five goals, 14 assists, 19 points, and 69 penalty minutes. The Rangers acquired Morrow during the 2025 NHL Offseason as a part of the trade that sent star defenseman K'Andre Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes. With that, Morrow is a defenseman who the Rangers are hoping will emerge as a key part of their defense in the future.

It will be interesting to see if he can take that next step with New York next season from here.
