the charts below give information about usa marriage and divorce rates between 1970 and 2000, and the marital status of adult americans in the two of the years.
the bar charts illustrate data on number of marriages and divorces in the usa by three decades (1970 - 2000), and also demonstrate the marital status american citizens in two of the years.
overall, in the first chart it can be seen easily that number of marriages was higher than divorce rates between 1970 and 2000 in united states of america. the second chart shows the percentage of adults and their four status (never married, married, widowed and divorced). the highest percentage of adults were married americans in two of the years.
according to the first chart, marriage rates had the same and highest indicators, thus rates were 2.5 million between 1970 and 1980 whereas number of divorces was also equal (1million) in spite of slight increase from 1970 to 2000.
in the second chart, over 10% of americans were never married in 1970 nevertheless, in 2000 the figure increased to 20%. secondly, 70% and approximately 59% adults were married in 1970 and 2000 respectively. third, nearly 8 % of adult americans were widowed in noticed years. lastly, 2% of people who were divorced in 1970 whereas the percentage of divorced adults raised to under 10% in 2000.
